This auction is for the entire purchase price. High bid is the price for the claim! Please read my s so that you may bid with confidence. The Hillsboro area is credited with the most gold recovered in New Mexico. From 1877-1982 over 270,000 oz. of gold and silver have been recovered, as well as 7 million tons of copper. These were reported totals-there is no telling how much unreported gold was removed. Almost all of the public lands around Hillsboro are under active lode and placer claims and are difficult to acquire. Most of the placer gold recovered was in Wicks Gulch. The claim has a portion of this rich gulch. A dirt road leads part of the way to the claim, but the last quarter mile needs to be hiked. There are many flat spots to set up camp on the claim or an RV at the road. Bedrock is shallow in most places on the gulch floor. The sides are a hard pack of clay, stones, and sand. There is lots of blacksands and quartz on the gully floor and on the sides. Truth or Consequences is about 20 minutes away, and Las Cruces is about 75 minutes. Both of these metropolitan areas offer restaurants, lodging, entertainment, and supplies. Please ask your questions before the auction ends, and understand what a placer mining claim is before bidding. You will be bidding for the mineral rights only, not the land itself. You can camp on it or stay in a wheeled vehicle, but you can not build permanent structures. A mining claim is real property. You can sell it, give it away, use it as loan collateral, or pass it on to your heirs. It is yours as long as you meet the annual filing requirements. Currently, by Sept 1 of each year, you must either pay the BLM $140 or if you have fewer than 10 claims you can file a small miners waiver and pay $10.
